The importance of time

Hi Everyone,

It feels like ages and ages since I did my last post. Perhaps that has as much to do with the amount I've been learning as much as the passing of time.

I did my first video excursion last weekend and the result was ~ in watching what I had shot, I nearly got sea-sick from all the movement. It was terrible! So, more practice needed along with a lot of timely tips from experts.

Learning has to start somewhere and is NEVER a waste of time. What is a waste of time is doing something and never taking the time to do it properly. So, watch this space for the 'adventures of...."

The reason I called this post 'the importance of time' is because I've just been reading my favourite newsletters and one from Adam Hudson discussed a changing phenomenum in the home market DIY'ers.

That is, the DIY market has fallen off for big hardware retailers. This is because those who used to be the DIY'ers are now preferring to pay contractors to do the work to save time! They have the money now to pay a contractor to do the work and are preferring to swap money for time.

So, the world changes with every turn.

He advises not to concentrate on price or length time of being in business because people just don't care. They have a problem and they want it solved now.

He says that the Contracting Business who offers the most efficient service as a problem solver will be the winning business every time.

Are you finding this now too? Interesting, huh?

Warmly,

End Result of DIYer's?

» Google Cash Update Burned
Hi Everyone,

We all know that some DIY'ers can a be a "pain-in-the-proverbial" and cause lot's of trouble for qualified Tradies. But even worse problems can be caused when the Owner-Builder sells a house that hasn't had qualified Tradespeople do the work. Is this another of those cases? I'd say so ~ wouldn't you say it was a likely possibility?

So if a 'mate' ever asks you to sign off on anything ~ forget it! He's just proven to you that he doesn't really care about your well-being because he's just asked you to put your financial life at risk. And your family's. Tell whoever does that to take a long walk off a short plank.

Warmly (Oops! better make this 'Kewly') :-)

My Learning Journey Continues

The Spider above is a Golden Orb and as you can see, he's busy moving in!

Hi Everyone,

Well, what an interesting and eventful week-month it has been. I'm back here now for this week so if anyone wants to phone me to discuss any marketing ideas/problems, then my number is (02) 66287927 and I would love to hear from you.

There's an interesting article in the form of a podcast from Matt Stevens in his Construction Contractors Digest Newsletter to day. Here's the link: http://www.stevensci.com

Also I noticed on TV last night that Sensis are advertising the closing date for YP in the Northern Rivers area so I suggest it could be a good time for those around here to start giving some thought to next years Yellow Pages ad if you haven't already. If you want some help to make your ad pay for itself ~and then some!~ I suggest getting the best YP ebook I have ever read on the subject here: http://constructingprofits.com/constructingprofits_resources.html

So when is your Yellow Pages Ad due for renewal?

Well, it's time for me to join my mentor and camcorder again for some more lessons. So far, we are getting along surprisingly well ~

Except the Spiders are back. I don't mean nice, keep-out-of-her-way type Spiders, I mean big, hairy, fat ones! I will attach a photo of one of the main types for you to see -BTW, all photos, videos etc that I show anywhere will all have my copyright attached but if you want to show any of them anywhere ~ I don't charge the earth and I'm pretty easy to get along with :-) ~ just ask those blessed Spiders. Everytime I mention charging them rent, they pack up their webs and move to another location just around the bush. I suppose in Spidertime that may seem a fair enough distance away??

Urgh.....if a Pest Exterminator on here would like to give me advice on how to make them feel less comfortable around me, I would appreciate it please?
Cheerfully,

Brought back memories, hey?

A Joke for Today

Hi Folks,

Considering what happened in the US this week, I received this joke this morning and thought you may all get a laugh from it ~

George Bush goes to a primary school to talk to the kids to get a little PR. After his talk he offers question time. One little boy puts up his hand and George asks him his name. "Stanley," responds the little boy."And what is your question, Stanley?"

"I have 4 questions:

"First, why did the USA invade Iraq without the support of the UN?
"Second, why are you President when Al Gore got more votes?"
"Third, whatever happened to Osama Bin Laden?"
"Fourth, why are we so worried about gay-marriage when 1/2 of all Americans don't have health insurance?"

Just then, the bell rings for recess. George Bush informs the kiddies that they will continue after recess.

When they resume, George says,"OK, where were we? Oh, that's right, question time. Who has a question?"

Another little boy puts up his hand. Bush points him out and asks him his name."Stevie," he responds."And what is your question, Stevie?""Actually, I have 6 questions:

"First, why did the USA invade Iraq without the support of the UN?
"Second, why are you President when Al Gore got more votes?"
"Third, whatever happened to Osama Bin Laden?"
"Fourth, why are we so worried about gay marriage when 1/2 of all Americans don't have health insurance?"
"Fifth, why did the recess bell go off 20 minutes early?"
"And sixth, what the hell happened to Stanley?"

Cheers,

How much Training have you done lately?

Hi Everyone,
I have been so busy the past few weeks with seminars, Business Network Group Meetings (and yes, I'm even learning how to navigate around Brisbane) and this weekend is taken up with another course finishing on Monday night. I think I need a holiday.

I am in the process of changing so much about my Business too because I'm going to be doing just about everything via Video. I now have the right equipment and mentor's but it will still be a huge learning curve for me. I'm looking forward too, to also installing the "live Chat" on our website so I can actually speak with you all. It won't cost you a cent but I will be needing your phone numbers in due course if you ever want to speak with me. However, that's a bit further down the line and you'll get plenty of notice.

When I have the Video up and running, we'll be able to do webinars too so that many who are interested in a certain topic can pick and choose which ones they want to take part in. If I get it right, we'll all have a lot of fun and get heaps and heaps of ideas shared between us all.

We now have an interesting assortment of many Trades on here from many countries. So ideas from Turkey can help Tradies from Pakistan, Tradies in Pakistan can share ideas with Aussies, Aussies can share ideas with Canadians and all countries will have a free-flow of good info.

Warmly,

Jan-ConstructingProfits
