Americans Get Quizzed On World Affairs - Google Video

Americans Get Quizzed On World Affairs - Google Video
Hi Everyone,

I hope you finished with a good week and are ready for an enjoyable long weekend. I'm just finishing up now too but I wanted to share this with you to give you an idea of the new technology now available through Google. Could this be a benefit to you? Why not put together a DIY video for the home handyman?

Have a nice weekend everyone and may the right team win. Go the Bronco's and Swans!

It is this type of stereotyping that causes us trouble

Dropship,Dropshippers,Drop Ship,Wholesale - DropshipWholesale.net
Hi Folks,
It is this type of stereotyping that gives us professionals a very, very bad image. For too long this has been the way contractors have portrayed themselves and made all contractors easy targets for ridicule. This is the image we have to beat and what makes me sooo mad is the way it impacts on fair dinkum business professionals like you.

What is so sad though is the fact that there are still some contracting 'wannabees' running around just as Tim Knox has described his experience.

All we can do is to portray ourselves the way we want our clients to see us.

Summer is here!

Hi Everyone,

Just a very quick blog today before I forget what I wanted to remind you of - Summer!
This is the time to do a really good advertising idea for Australians and that is 'stubby coolers'.

As you all know, a drink (either beer, soft drink or any other cool drink) gets warm very quickly unless it is wrapped in a stubby cooler, right? The dew off the glass makes a mess on the table too. But who wants to drink a luke warm drink on a hot summers day? Not me and I'm betting you'd prefer not to too.

So get those stubby coolers out there with your name and contact details on them. Imagine having one of your stubby coolers on every building site in your town? And the other good thing is that they last for years and years - ongoing advertisng - that isn't going to break the bank.

Get them into the local clubs and pubs, give them to your mates on site and watch how many times they use them!

When I did this form of advertising in Darwin, fifteen years after they were still sitting on people's fridges - and still being used if not daily, weekly - summer and winter!

If you live in a cold climate and you are just now coming into winter, the polystyrene foam also acts as an insulator for hot drinks too!

But in Australia they are an essential for summer - so provide your customers with a usuable product and they'll think even more often of you and your business.

Warmly, (no pun intended :-))

Have you been caught yet?

The Truth About Paid Surveys
Hi Everyone,
Yes, its true - I've been 'slacko' this week with my blogging. Apart from that, I really don't have too much to report. The stuff I've seen this week would have wasted your time. Speaking of which, here is a reasonably good read to stop yourself from getting scammed. And I know the info's right. How?

:-( Because I've been caught! So, a word of warning - don't get caught too. If you really want to lose money - send it my way! I can lose it really fast for you! LOL

Have a nice weekend everyone!

I need help to Advertise

Post your FREE press release, article, or news here… | Press Release Monkey
Hi Everyone,
As you all know, I am always looking for ways and means of telling fellow 'Tradies' how to be different by advertising differently~ so I'm following my own advice. The more trade businesses we have with us, the stronger we become.

Because marketing our businesses knows no restrictions on trade or borders, we can all use different ideas from trade to trade, country to country.

I found this site and I love the 'cleanness' of it - it is well laid out and very navigable (in other words, user friendly!) so I thought I would share it with you as an example.

Have a great week everyone!

More Yellow Pages Info

Captain Electric's AMAZING yellow Pages ad
Hi everyone,

I hope you finished up with a good weeek. Here in Alstonville we've had a week of wet weather but I'm not complaining. I know how dry it is in 97% of the rest of NSW and just how precious water is ~ even more so to those who don't have much of it!

In many parts of Australia the Yellow Pages time is fast approaching again. So I'm back onto my hobby-horse. But in fairness, I know what a large chunk of your advertising budget gets taken up with this medium which makes it is just so important that you are armed with the right information and you aren't so dependent on your YP Rep.

If you subscribe to newsletters I can recommend this one. The fact it is written for users in the US doesn't matter because Tradespeople everywhere are faced with this same conundrum when it is time to advertise in the YP.

Have a nice weekend everyone ~ I have a feeling you deserve it ~ so kick back with a stubby and enjoy the footy semi-finals. May the right team win :-)

Systems

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all have had a nice weekend and the right footy team won. Now with the grand final(s) just around the corner, you can bet those football players are working hard too! But you all have something in common with them. Do you know what that is?

Systems - you can bet they will be putting a lot of energy into their system (method) for scoring. I'm not terribly footy literate but I do know for sure that it will be the winning team who has the best system for scoring and blocking - that will be the winner.

Football and business are all about systems - or methods. A method for quoting, doing the job and being paid on job completion for it.

These systems are instigated because they are needed to be followed for every job to keep the business operating at maximum potential.

So, do you have a sytem in place or are you still working 'ad hoc'?

Last Night I saw the Future way our homes will be built

Welcome to Duraplas
Hi Everyone! ~ "I'm baaack"
The Network group meeting in Brisbane last Tuesday was full of ideas and information. I will be sharing much of this with you all in the new articles I will be putting up in the 'freemiums' section later this week so be sure to go in and have a read!

You all know my penchant for environmentally friendly and sustainable building practices - well - last night I was enthralled with what I had the privilege of seeing first hand. My prediction is that it will become the way we build future homes.

Ajay Fibreglass are the manufacturers of the Duraplas water tanks and their new worldwide, patented underground tank is what I see being used in all slab foundations. I have dreamt of using this method for water storage and to now see it being done made my spirit soar! At last, a way to not only conserve and store water but a way to use water to insulate our homes!

By using water as insulation via storage tanks isn't yet done but it is just around the corner. Can you imagine a home where the water acts as insulation as well as for all household needs?

This is a Brilliant, ABSOLUTELY brilliant - idea and I wish them every success with this wonderful - and long overdue - solution towards solving some of our water problems.

LOWE'S FOR CONTRACTORS: Contractor Tools, Construction Estimators, Contractor Contracts, Contractor Supplies, Contractor Management, LOWE'S Credit Cards

LOWE'S FOR CONTRACTORS: Contractor Tools, Construction Estimators, Contractor Contracts, Contractor Supplies, Contractor Management, LOWE'S Credit Cards
Hi Everyone,

Has conflict resolution ever had to be dealt with in your business? When it rises its ugly head, it is emotionally draining on the participants and everyone else within earshot. The thing is, if the combatants can't (or won't) settle it themselves then you do have to step in. And its best not to let it go on too long or to let it escalate. If there is a problem, deal with it ASAP.

Here is a site with some excellent advice on resolving and dealing with the problem of conflict resolution and I do recommend that you read it. Then flip on through the site because there is a lot of other useful and interesting information in this site.

The other thing that attracted my attention was to learn that in the US there was a rise of 20% towards 'green' housing. As you all know this has been a passion of mine for some time. It makes me happy to think that others are out there who also think alike and I recommend you read that too - its under the "Business Management" feature.

Happy Reading this weekend and have a nice weekend everyone. I'm off to a conference in Brisbane next week so I won't be back here until Wednesday night - so I'll see you again then :-)

Warmly,
