Before Starting ANY new Venture, read this!

Dropship,Dropshippers,Drop Ship,Wholesale - DropshipWholesale.net
Hi everyone,

I do a lot of reading up on different stuff on the Internet always looking for the ideas or advice that I think will be of benefit or interest to you guys.

This is one of the best pieces of advice put in one place that I think we could all benefit from doing BEFORE starting any new business or venture. Sometimes we get so involved with what we want to do in our new venture, that the practicalities get shoved aside.

And when this happens, our new ventures eventually end up strangled and dying because we didn't take the right actions in the right time frame that we would have IF we had sat down with people who saw things likely to threaten our new fledgling venture in the first place.

In the long run, it is better to know the bad side before we put all our energy and money into doing something that falls over later. It saves a lot of angst, stress and money.

On the other side of the coin. these people may know of ways we can augment our ideas to make even more money in a shorter time. Just because we 'brain storm' ideas to run them past a neutral person, doesn't always mean they will 'veto' or kill off the idea. Often they have ideas or see things that we don't know about and it is these things that will give 'extra legs' to an already good idea.

Tag And Ping - The Next Generation of Blog And Ping!
Hi Everyone,

If there is one thing for sure in this world (apart from death and taxes) is that there is always something new coming along on the Internet.

The latest is Tag and Ping as a way to draw traffic to your Website. This newest innovative idea is due for release on June 2nd so if anyone is interested in being a 'first mover' on this product, here's your chance.

Can you imagine being on the crest of the wave as it rolls continually forward? I stongly suspect this product will be HUGE. Right now it's a free affiliate programme so I strongly suggest investigating it. Blogging and Pinging has grown and is freely available to all of us but now with Tagging and Pinging it will grow and grow.

STARTING A BUSINESS

STARTING A BUSINESS

Hi Everyone,

I have spoken about the importance of a Business plan before and no doubt I will do it again many times. Telling you the importance of having one is not going to help you much if I don't give you a hand at getting one, right? :-)

There are many formats for a business plan but this one is a simple and easy to get done one. It asks all the right questions in the right order to get you writing your own. And no-one knows your business like you do, or should! So you are the only one who should be writing your own plan. That way you will do it in the time frame that you know you can achieve.

Like life, there are no shortcuts and no magic bullets. It's just planning, persistence, patience and perseverance.

Let me share a story with you. Back in 1993 I had a business called H.O.M.E. and I had a cashflow problem. I went to my bank manager for a loan and the first thing he wanted to know was "did I have Business plan?" Luckily for me, I did and I had it with me just because I had a very good mentor who knew the ropes. Even though I had this business plan all done I hadn't bothered to look at it or check my progress against it. Why? Because I 'knew' where I was going, and how I was going to get there! Yeah...'little miss know-it-all' alright!

Anyway, I looked at it with my bank manager and surprise,surprise....my bank balance was within a couple of dollars of my actual bank balance. According to my financial plan, I had planned it in that there was going to be a shortfall for the next 3 months because of an advertising campaign that I had instigated. Had I not been such a 'smarty pants' I would have made my life easier.

The moral of the story is to do it and follow it. Don't be like me and stick it away in the bottom drawer and not look at it.

Besides, when you see you are 'on track' it is a real morale booster! And we all know that a person trudging through a small business on their own needs those 'pats-on-the-back' sometimes, don't we?

Anyway, I hope this helps everyone.

BTW, Congratulations to NSW on winning the state of origin last Wednesday night. It was a terrific game of footy!

Hi Everyone,

Seeing as I have been going on a bit lately about new energy sources, one of our members sent me this website this morning showing how we can look after what we already have. Thanks Pat, well done!

For our NSW members, click the link above and follow the instructions. You may well be eligible for six energy saving lightbulbs and / or a new water saving showerhead.

Now for anyone seeking more marketing ideas, I received this beaut little 'freebie' ebook titled "The 10 Commandments of Power Positioning" which will give many of you some brilliant insights into making better marketing campaigns in the future. You can download it here: http://www.successdoctor.com/books/10ebook.pdf

As always, if anyone else has something to share, please email me at jan@constructingprofits.com as I would love to hear it!

The eBay ShortCuts Package for making money with eBay auctions.

The eBay ShortCuts Package for making money with eBay auctions.

Have you ever wondered what to do with those 'bits n pieces' that are still usuable after a remodelling job? Even though they may not be in the first prime of life doesn't mean someone doesn't want them. And its better to let someone have the use of them rather than filling up our land fill areas. Why not give them a go on Ebay? Could be a nice little bonus at the end of a job?

Just a thought....

Biodiesel Alternative Energy

Biodiesel Alternative Energy
Hi Everyone,

With so much discussion starting about Nuclear energy V's other forms of energy sources, I found this book. I am not a raving greenie or anything similiar, but I do think we need to cover as many bases as possible seeing as we are now having this discussion.

My philosophy is, lets look at as many methods as possible, not get set on one too soon before we have examined as many as offer potential. After all the problems caused by our reliance on the Oil industry, wouldn't some of the problems be erradicated if there were more and different avenues for energy production available? No doubt we will all be hearing a lot more about constructing new energy sources over the coming months.

Now to the more important and imminent question. Which State between NSW and Qld. will win the State of Origin football tonight? Ummmm? Any takers? I'm going for the Maroons...Go Qld!

Hi Everyone,

When PM John Howard returns from this overseas jaunt, we Australians (according to recent press reports about his latest speeches to other parliaments around the world) will be subjected to a debate on Nuclear energy V's other forms of renewable energy.

I think we all need to sit up and have a bit of a think about our energy needs and resources and about how they will affect our future energy needs and our environment.

Yes, Australia is a Uranium rich country but should we sell it off for the almighty dollar to those who choose to use it as against more environmentally friendly and sustainable energy sources?

My biggest concern about Nuclear energy is the waste product. If we already have identified a serious problem about the energy source but haven't as yet found a reliable and safe solution to the problem, then we don't have to think much further about possible consequences.

Persoanlly, I think we should be looking to work with Nature and what has been provided naturally for our benefit before we go playing "God" just to make our "bottom line" look better for the next election.

What are your thoughts on this? If our contractors don't start thinking about this, someone amongst us will be building these Nuclear power stations and how would you like to build something that you already 'know' is not going to benefit the majority? In fact, could end up killing many....doesn't bear thinking about, does it? So let's think about it at this end of the debate, not after the decision has been made.

Anyway, why do we really need one big supplier of energy? Why can't we be proactive like Gympie in Qld. and build energy from a locally growing product. They have provided their energy for their town through using the shells from the Macademia Nuts they grow. That way it is a way of disposing of the shells and providing power for their town.

I think that solution to two problems is quite brilliant.

Yours-in-thought,

CBMall ClickBank Mall - The Authorized ClickBank Mall
Hi Everyone,

This morning I got my "Super Affiliate Handbook" from Rosalind Gardener. It is the updated version of her original book that I purchased last year. And once again, it is a brilliant step-by-step guide on "how to" become a successful Internet marketing affiliate.

She's the "real deal" as we say and knows her stuff. She knows her business because she walks her talk.

And she's an "Ex" Air Traffic Controller so I feel a close affinity to her as I was married to an "Air-Traffiker" for 17 years! I know precisely how precise they are by nature :-) - Goes with the job, I guess. Anyway, she quit her job and joined the ranks of the super-affiliates. I strongly recommend this book to anyone interested in earning a passive income from off the Internet.

If you are interested in other info products then you will undoubtedly find them here: http://www.cbmall.com/default.asp

Hudson, Ink - 9 Costliest Marketing Myths

Hudson, Ink - 9 Costliest Marketing Myths
Hi Everyone,

I have been a subscriber to this magazine now for a few months and I know he's 'on the money' as we say. I suggest you browse through all the segments in this eZine as it applies to all contractors, not just Plumbing and Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning businesses.

Also, do you know when your Yellow Pages Ad is due for renewal? In Australia, it is advertised in the back of your local phone book.

I suggest you take note of the date and set aside time for yourself to think about your Ad. If you apply the knowledge of your business, and perhaps even survey (just by asking) your customers about why they chose you over your competition, you will be more likely to create a really effective Ad for yourself. No-one will ever create a better Ad for you and your customers than you...but you need to do it RIGHT. Just keep reading these free blogs and follow through on the information you learn from them. I can only point you in the direction of information to grow your business, it's up to you how much or how little of it you apply.

As always, I'm 'out there' batting for you blokes so enjoy the read! Better still, apply it :-)

Bob Serling: Another Crucial Reason Why Pay-Per-Click is Bad Business

Bob Serling: Another Crucial Reason Why Pay-Per-Click is Bad Business

A Note from my Mentor

This is one of my favourite people. He is a 'guru' who makes me sit up and take notice! More than take notice, I usually do as he says! Why? Because he has 25 years marketing experience (including marketing for fortune 500 companies) behind him using both online and offline marketing techniques.

Frankly, when it comes to marketing, he is someone I flew from Australia to San Diego and back just so I could be mentored by him. Sure, it wasn't cheap but you get what you pay for and frankly, I have no complaints! :-)

And guess what else? You blokes are getting the benefit of his experience through me. This is why networking is soooo important.

So, after this advice, I think I hear 30 or 40 articles coming through the brain cells.......just waiting to be written and distributed.

So, the advice is, Pay Per Click (PPC) marketing is not advisable.

Hi Everyone,

This looks like it could be of interest to someone or many of you. I know from experience how profitable these trade shows can be. You see, I organized the first one in Darwin in 1993 in conjunction with the TCA (Territory Construction Association). At the time I owned a business called H.O.M.E and it was the TCA H.O.M.E. show and was a roaring success.

My suggestion is to take an exhibition stand at the this trade show if that is where your demographics are. If you are participating in the trade show, you may be interested in having a read of the freemium on trade shows in www.constructingprofits.com.

Otherwise if you live within travelling distance of this trade show you may find it interesting to go and see what's new, what's hot this year in the construction industry.

Small Business Marketing Plans

Small Business Marketing Plans

Hi Everyone,

I found this article this morning and I thought it to be well worth reading.

Don't be alarmed at some of the requirements all that you have to do is "drill down" into what your customer wants/expects from your product or service. With "drilling down" it simply means asking a layer of different questions.

People buy/do things for their own reasons and it is often surprising how many of their reasons actually are the same. To understand your own target market just means you have to look for the similiarities and note them for when you want to advertise again or to understand your customers needs/expectations better.

But it does give you some idea of how many variables exist when target marketing.

workers insurance Australia - Google Search

workers insurance Australia - Google Search
Hi Everyone,

Do you carry enough Insurance to cover any eventualities in your business? The worst thing really about Insurance is needing it.

And lets face it, it's one of those things you need only when you really need it. There are some insurances we have because we can't get away with not having them but believe me, when the 'brown stuff' hits the fan and you really need insurance, it comes in real handy then!

I'm not affiliated or recommending any particular Insurance company but I am recommending that everyone carries adequate cover.

When Cyclone Tracey devasted Darwin on Christmas Eve 1974, I was really pleased to have it then! Made a bad situation just a little bit less worrisome. The only other time I have needed to use it was just after we moved into our beautiful Manor Home in Winmalee, NSW. We had a plumber friend install the dishwasher. Umm...you can guess the rest! On the bright side at least we were able to get the exact same carpet that we had just installed in the past week.

What happens to you and your family though if you have an accident at work and aren't able to work for a month or so? Debts and expenses don't go away.

Anyway, that's just another thing for everyone to think about.

Marketing Tips and Advice - StreetSmart Marketer

Marketing Tips and Advice - StreetSmart Marketer

Hi Everyone,

As some of you know, I am part of a Worldwide Information Products Mentoring Programme under the directions of Bob Serling. Another member of this small group is Michael Hepworth AKA the "Street Smart Marketer" and in this weeks issue he deals with some information that I think is well worth your time to read.

Especially the part about cutting prices. When you lose a job through being under-cut by a competitor, look to see what extra value you can offer instead of feeling 'forced' to cut your prices too.

Just as a suggestion for you guys, why not look at doing a contra deal or JV or whatever you want to call it, but have you ever thought it may be an idea to "team up" with another business to extend whatever services it is that you offer now?

Lets just say you are a contract Tree Lopper. Why not team up with a lawnmowing service to clean up the grounds after you have lopped the Tress? A Plumber could team up with a pest inspecting business, a builder could team up with a Landscaping business and An Electrician could team up with an Air-Conditining supplier or 'Fridgie etc etc and the list of extra services you could offer could really expand everyones businesses.

That way, no one has to cut prices to get the work, everyone's business expands at full price and everyone's customers benefit.

The other advantage to offering the extra services, is that you take the focus off the price of the job and give your customers more choices.

Anyway I strongly recommend reading "The StreetSmart Marketer" as I think you will find the information interesting.

Smoke Alarms for the home - Wormald Australia

Smoke Alarms for the home - Wormald Australia

Hi Everyone,

I was talking with a Real Estate Property Manager this afternoon and we got talking about new legislation for Rental Properties.

It appears that as from the 1st May 2006, all homes (private & Rental) in NSW, Australia have to be fitted out with smoke alarms.

The new law specifically states that it is to be a condition of every residential tenancy agreement, that the property rented is required to have at least 1 smoke alarm installed and that it is to be an offence to interfere or remove an exisitng alarm.

Hey, you guys....I haven't seen or spotted a single Ad for this work. Surely there is an opportunity knocking there for someone to service this need?

Why hasn't someone done the rounds of the property agents in their area with a set fee price to service all their rental properties?

And then there are all those homes where the 'hubby' is screwdriver challenged. And believe me, there are quite a few out there that I wouldn't trust to turn a light off, let alone install a smoke alarm :-)

knock,knock,knock.....
Who's there?
Opportunity
Opportunity who?
Opportunity knocking!

Good luck!

Do Not Contact Service

Do Not Contact Service

Hi again Everyone,

I sent out a fax last night via a company who specialises in specific lists. Unbeknown to me, the list was not as updated as it probably should have been.

Consequently, I have had several requests as to where, what, how etc to get off these mailing lists.

Here is the place to get of Australian Direct Marketing Associations Mailing list but as you can see, it won't get you away from all of it. Because everyone who wants to stay in touch with you will email, fax, call, write to you - there is absolutely no one place where that can be stopped.

If you ever have to give out your details when you aren't keen to do so, make a specific point (and watch it written down or inserted into the computer) that under no circumstances, do you want to receive unrequested mail.

But I won't ever do that again, OK? Nor will I - or have I, actually - ever put faxing down as a possible method of advertising so maybe my oversight was a gift from heaven?

I hope this information is helpful.

Hi Everyone,

I feel so sad today. I have been searching diligently through the Internet this morning looking for products and/or services that I think may be useful to you blokes. And I came upon this site. It made me feel so frustrated I could cry!

When this site was launched into cyberspace, I have every confidence it was done with so much 'hope and glory'. But the hard reality is, it simply hasn't done the job. In fact, if it was in Ethiopia, it would probably be under an aid programme. But unless you know where to access help, how can I render aid to this person?

But you know what? I'm sure as blazes going to try! You know why? Because he has asked for help. It is said that it is a wise man indeed, who not only recognizes when he needs help, but also has the courage to ask for it! So, Now I've cheered up no end!

We have had a swag of new members join us in the past 24 hours and I would like to extend a very warm welcome to everyone! It's great to have you here and to know that you are one of us who is as determined as we are to construct a profitable business.

Do you recognize what is wrong with this website I have blogged? If you don't, but would be interested in knowing (or even if you have a website that is going south like this one) contact me and I will give you a freebie! I will give you an honest critique of your website so don't hang about folks...this offer will not last indefinitely.

Now that you have all cheered me up, I'll go help this website owner get up and going!

Advertise with Google AdWords: The Definitive Guide to Google AdWords - Google AdWords Strategies

Advertise with Google AdWords: The Definitive Guide to Google AdWords - Google AdWords Strategies

Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone has had a nice relaxing weekend without having to work last Saturday. One of the things I want to share with you are ways to increase your incomes without having to work harder to do it. Sounds impossible, I hear you think? Not really....here's how.

I think we all dream of the idea of creating a passive income, don't we? For those who are unsure of what a passive income is, it is an income that goes on generating income 24/7 for you without you having to be there to do it.

One of the 'downfalls' to being a good 'tradie' is the fact that it is YOU who has to be there to do it. Either that, or you have good employees (now known as subcontractors under the new Australian Industrial laws - but we had better not go there just yet, right? :-)) and you still have to be there to a degree to oversee their work.

But imagine if you could create a passive income for yourself that went on earning you money, day after day and night after night? There are ways to do it but it will require you to have an open and receptive mind and a mind ready to learn new information. More on that in days to come, ok?

Right now though we are assuming you already have a website and it is not getting any visitors, or traffic as it is called. There are numerous ways to drive traffic to your website and one of them is by using Google Adwords.

Before you even contemplate using this method though you have to know how it works or you "do your dough" as we say here in Australia.

I have been studying Internet marketing now for just on a year and I still have lots to learn. Because the Internet is such a volatile and evolving medium, there is new stuff happening every day. The other downside is working your way through the 'fluff : gruff' to find out who is true and who is just 'full of it'. It is possible by the process of elemination to find the tried and true. But it takes a lot of time and contacts.

One of the things I can do for you blokes is to put you onto the tried and true so you don't have to fight your way through the 'fluff:gruff'.

If you are going to advertise on the Internet you need to know how to do it cost effectively. The way to advertise on the Internet is through Google Adwords. But before you even think of doing that you need to know how and Perry Marshall (aka "Mr. Adwords") is the top guru on this subject. His reputation is spread everywhere through many reliable contacts because he walks his talk and does his thing.

In other words, he practices what he preaches.

If you are even thinking of advertising on the Internet with Google Adwords, I highly recommend you do this short FREE course first.

Just to help you understand the difference between Google Adwords and Google Adsense, they are the two sides of the same coin. With Google Adwords you pay Google. With Google Adsense, Google pays you.

If you like this blog and website, please feel free to send it on to your mates.

Sat 6 May 06 :: 6:25:08 pm

I have been so impressed with Michael Cheyney's Adsense videos that I have devoted the first page of my new website to it!

I would appreciate feedback please on this website. Do you like the colours, copy, layout or do you think it looks 'crummy'?

Personally, I like it. I think my web guru has done a terrific job! But I am biased :-)

So, now you know what I've been working on the past two days. Have you been working too? I hope so but not too hard! One of the things www.constructingprofits.com wants to share with you are ways to get better hourly rates so you get some time off with your families.

The kids love it when parents attend their sporting matches with them and barrack for them and/or their teams. These become the things they talk about years later as adults with you around the kitchen table. Mind you, if you 'goof' up on these occasions you will be hearing about it for the rest of your life!

I remember the time my parents took me to this super-duper sale of farm machinery. Back in those days (before banks became the problem they are today!) and people sold voluntarily because they had decided to do something else, these sale days were very social affairs! Everyone dressed up, our Dad's put on their moleskins and Akubras and kids were expected to be on their best behaviour. Which, of course, ah hum....

Well this particular day for our picnic lunch, Mum decided to make a pineapple meringue pie. Which she used to make to perfection, I might add. I still can't make them like she could and I have tried a few times. But this particular day she forgot to pack plates and spoons to eat it. So, there we all were, sitting around on a tartan picnic blanket...dropping pineapple pieces and meringue all over our good clothes!

Oh, what a sticky afternoon that was!

So, even the best of us goof up sometimes so if it has happened to you today...forget it. The kids will remind you anyway for the rest of your life so why should you have to remember it :-)

Hope you all have a great weekend and a very prosperous week to come.

Michael Cheney's AdSense Videos

Michael Cheney's AdSense Videos

Have you ever been 'stuffing' around, trying to find your way through a maze of information?

I have for the past 9 months. Understanding coming to me in dribs 'n drabs, learning, learning and more learning!

Then comes that EUREKA moment when the sun shines again. The dawning of understanding!

For anyone interested in making a passive income on the 'net, one that will go on and on for ages....

The way to go is with Google Adsense.

So many people haven't even heard about Google Adsense, others have but have not taken advantage of it while others have pursued knowledge and understanding of it. I fall into that last category.

But yesterday Michael Cheney brought out his Adsense videos and the light of understanding finally dawned for me.

Now, as promised I would always do for you guys, when I found something of interest and something that will benefit someone or everyone, I would pass on the knowledge.

Well guys....here it is. Another string to your bow. Another way to make your website pay for itself or, to form a foundation for your retirement.

Happy watching everyone!

Estimaster2 the estimating software for the busy Australian Builder or all Trades

Estimaster2 the estimating software for the busy Australian Builder or all Trades

How many times have you handed over a quote only to realise when you start the job, that you have left off an 'everyday' material item you use on every job? It gets worse if the item is an expensive one and let's face it, how many of those items can you keep paying for out of your own pocket?

It then becomes a choice between embarassment or money loss. Which one would you choose? Whichever one you choose, you lose.

But you don't have to anymore if you choose to use Estimaster2. And the other thing I like about this programme is that it can be adapted for all trades in the building industry. So the things that every trade uses on every job no longer gets the cost overlooked when estimating a quote.

Project Managers, Building Supervisors, Engineers, Architects and property developers love a contractor who gives them a fast, accurate quote with no contract variations.

So, you may be thinking, "I'm only a little bloke, I don't need that" But you would be quite wrong because it saves you time as well as money. Couldn't your time be better spent doing an extra job for real money instead of doing up quotes for jobs that you may never get?

And what about time spent playing with the kids. They don't see you anywhere near the amount of time they want to because you are locked away in the shed, workshop or office doing up tender documents or quotes. Estimaster2 gives you back control over time. How you spend that time is up to you.

And the other nice thing about it? It's tax deductible!
